Bolt Down Kit Step by Step Guide

The boltdown kit is designed to make it easy to install/remove the LA or Sport Chocks quickly without having to undo fasteners underneath your trailer.

Begin by choosing the proper location of your chock in your trailer and place the chock in that position. Check underneath the trailer in that location to see if there is anything that will interfere with the mounting hardware like wiring, structure or insulation.

Carefully mark the location of the mounting holes. A Sport Chock is shown in this example but the same installation applies to the LA Chock.
Next, set each mounting plate so that the center (threaded) hole is located exactly over the pencil marks you made earlier. Now carefully trace around the two countersunk holes in each plate.
This is what you should have at this point.
Now use a 1/8" drill bit to pilot drill the three hole locations under each mounting plate..
Now drill out the three holes using a 3/8" drill bit.
Now attach each plate using the 5/16" x 18tpi countersunk screws and locknuts and washers underneath.
Spread the large washers apart from the center hole so they will not interfere with the chock mounting bolt.
The bolt down kit is now ready for mounting the chock.
Now you will be able to quickly set your chock over the mounting plates and attach it using the 3/8"x 16tpi allen head bolts supplied with the kit.
Special instructions for using the screw inserts with the boltdown kit.
For those trailers with limited or no access to the underneath side, these inserts will make it possible to install a boltdown kit from the top side.

Begin the installation process as you would a normal bolt-down kit installation marking the chock location and boltdown plate locations on your trailer floor. Go ahead and pilot drill the three holes at each plate location with a 1/8" drill bit. Now drill the outside two holes with a 7/16" drill bit and the center hole 3/8".

Now apply some construction adhesive to the threads on the inserts and using the allen wrench supplied with the bolt down kit, slowly screw the inserts into the 7/16" holes
The top of the inserts should be flush with the top of your trailer floor. Now you can set each plate over the holes/inserts and attach them to the floor from the top side. If you have structure directly underneath the floor at these locations, you might want to use shorter 5/16" countersunk screws to mount the plates to prevent interference.
Now you can mount the chock easily from the top side quickly and securely!
